We’ve got a simple, fun project for making Valentines for your kids’ classmates. Bookmarks drawn by hand and embellished with ribbon are a great craft that your kids and you can do together. Rinne made these for her friends when she was in first grade and they were a big hit.

What you’ll need to make Valentine Bookmarks
1. White paper (cut to 2 in. wide x 5 in. tall)
2. Colored paper or card stock (cut to 2.5 in. wide x 5.5 in. tall)
3. Crayons, colored pencils or markers
4. Glue Stick
5. Self-adhesive laminating sheets (optional)
6. Hole punch
7. Ribbon
On the white paper, have your child draw a picture or design and the phrase: “You Hold A Place in my Heart” or another option: “You are #1 in my book” or even a Bible verse about love.
Tell your child to leave room at the top for the hole, so don’t write your message too high on the paper. Then glue the white paper to the center of the colored paper. Once glued, write “from ‘your child’s name’ (and the year if you want)” on the back of the bookmark. Next, as an option, you can use self-adhesive laminating sheets to protect the bookmarks. Punch a hole in the top of bookmark so that you can loop and tie ribbon through the hole. That’s it!
We hope you enjoy crafting with your kids and spreading love with these heart-felt creations for your friends!
